Meet Forrest

Hi there! My name is Forrest Hayley, I am the owner and primary instructor for the Gateway School of Real Estate. After graduating from high school, I joined the military at the age of 17 to serve my country and to see the world. My first assignment while serving in the Air Force was McChord AFB, Washington. During this time, I fell in love with the state and with my future wife. Our love for Washington led us to return after my retirement from the Air Force, and my desire to help people led me into a career in Real Estate. My wife and I love spending time out in the mountains hiking, backpacking, skiing, fishing, hunting- any excuse to breathe in the fresh mountain air and take in God’s beautiful handiwork.

I have earned the only degree in Real Estate offered in the Northwest from North Seattle College to provide the best Real Estate services possible to all the people of this great state.

In addition to staying up to date on my own education, I also teach first time home buyer courses, VA home buyers, courses for the Washington State Housing and Finance Commission’s low or zero down payment homebuyers courses, as well as the full 90 clock hour Pre-Licensing courses for those interested in becoming Real Estate Brokers.

The military and my faith have ingrained in me the importance of professionalism, excellence, compassion, and doing the right thing always and I will do whatever I can to help you achieve your dreams!

Meet Dale

Hello, my name is Dale Shoemaker. I am the founder of the Gateway School of Real Estate. My background is 100% real estate. I have been listing and selling real estate since 1977. My mother, aunt, and grandmother were all licensed and active in real estate. That makes me a third-generation Realtor. My designations include: Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), Council of Residential Specialist (CRS), State of Washington Licensed Managing Broker, Certified Real Estate Broker (CRB), Senior’s Real Estate Specialist (SRES), and Certified Real Estate Team Specialist (C-RETS), Certified Real Estate Instructor.

After being in real estate for a little over three decades I wanted to do something to give back to a profession that has given me so much for so long. After some soul searching I focused on education with an emphasis on pre-license. What I found is I get great enjoyment from instructing people who believe they have a higher calling than just the 9-5 job they have now. Even more than that, I get immense satisfaction mentoring them to a point where they are competent, knowledgeable professionals who earn a good income and enjoyment from doing what they love to do.

My feeling is that in the future they too may come to the point of wanting to give back to their profession in one form or another, perhaps teaching. And the cycle continues.
